Valkyries
Valkyries, Kickin’ it since 1929
The Vikings were one of the first known clubs to sponsor a women’s program. In 1929 the Valkyries played the club’s male oldtimers during the annual picnic and Bellevue’s Vasa Park on Lake Sammamish. Valkyries was only recently discovered as the team’s name in an article from the Seattle Post Intelligencer. Written by Jack Simpson on September 1st, 1929. The Valkyries’ captain was Astrid Aaslund, and while most of the names are illegible, seeing a few first names is so exciting. Hopefully, someday, we find the results. Go Valkyries!
