George "Whitey" Craggs

I don’t need to run; they’ll be coming past me in a minute.

There was no one was more ubiquitous nor the source of more firsthand stories in Seattle area soccer than Whitey Craggs.

Over four decades of players, of all ages and abilities shared the field with him, youth to the professional level. You could see him run the lines for an NASL game in the Kingdome on Saturday, then referee a youth game the next day at Lower Woodland. He was a true character and one of a kind.
